Tour Description
With a departure time of 8:00 am (meet at 7:30 am) from Cairns' Marlin Marina - E Finger, you'll board the MV Sun-Kist and for your exciting day of diving and snorkelling. Relax aboard the 18 metre mono hull boat, while you travel the two hours (approximately 40 nautical miles, or 70 kilometres) via Fitzroy Island to the true Outer Great Barrier Reef.
After a quick stopover at Fitzroy Island, you'll reach the first dive site - which will be one out of a choice of Milln, Briggs, Moore or Thetford Reefs - arriving at about 9:45 am. Here, you'll suit up and hear a debriefing from the friendly and experiences reef dive team, before jumping in for a two-hour introductory scuba dive. During your dive, you'll learn the basics, as well as be introduced to the most common species of sea life, as well as a few rarer ones.
At noon, you'll enjoy a delicious chef-prepared tropical lunch, made fresh on board the vessel. Relax on the deck during and after your lunch and admire the paradisaical scenery. At around 12:45 pm, you'll jump in for your second two-hour session of snorkelling, during which you'll have the chance to see dozens of rare and common species of fish, a huge variety of colourful hard and soft corals, manta and sting rays, reef sharks, turtles and more! You can opt for a second scuba lesson for a small fee.
At around 3:30 pm, you'll head back to Cairns, enjoying a mouth-watering afternoon tea and stopping briefly at Fitzroy Island for transfers. You'll arrive back in Cairns at around 5:00 pm.
NOTE: Medical conditions apply. The Master of the Vessel will determine all schedules, sites and number of sessions on the day, based on weather and other conditions, to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
