Fraser Island Tours
There aren’t many Aussies who haven’t heard of the beautiful Fraser Island, and there’s a good reason for that! This Heritage Listed paradise is located within the Fraser Coast just offshore (around 20 kilometres) from Hervey Bay and 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Brisbane. As the largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island – which measures 120 kilometres (75 mi) long and 24 kilometres (15 mi) wide – has a multitude of natural features and fun-filled activities available.
The island has an eclectic mix of environments, from its pure white beaches, sand dunes and coloured sands, to its lush rainforests, eucalyptus woodlands, mangrove forests, banksia heathland and peat swamps. The surrounding oceans and freshwater lakes (over 100 of them!) of Fraser Island is what really draws the crowds though and you’re unlikely to find clearer (or bluer) water anywhere else, outside of a pool!
The island – which has protected status within the Great Sandy National Park – is home to a number of mammal species – including the most pure dingo species in Australia – as well as a huge range of birds, amphibians and reptiles, including a saltwater croc or two. The activities available on Fraser Island are many, with a number of amazing tours that allow you to explore the island’s natural beauty from end to end. You can also participate in snorkelling, scuba diving, whale and dolphin watching, 4WDing along 75 Mile Beach, fishing, beach games and resort activities.
